Project Management is a vital skill in the world of IT, but sadly too many techs do not take the time to learn how to go about it professionally. If they’ve deployed a work order system they pat themselves on the back and figure they have done more than enough. What they miss is that projects that are big enough to require real project management principles are the ones that generally have the best profit margins.
The folks over at TeamGantt have created a resource for teaching some of the basics of project management. They have guidebooks, videos and more. There is not a huge amount of material, but what is there has been done well, and if nothing else this would be a good place for a tech to start getting their feet wet with the idea of project management.
