iOS 9 Update Will Be Smaller Than iOS 8

Apple 1 Comment on iOS 9 Update Will Be Smaller Than iOS 8 221

One of the issues in the past with updating Apple devices to the latest version of iOS has been the size of the update itself.  iOS 7 required 3GB of free space and iOS 8 required around 4.6 GB.  Being that many people decide to buy the cheapest iPhone or iPad with the least amount of storage many times having this much free space was nearly impossible.

iOS 9 is going to only need 1.3GB.  This is still a large download, but most Apple devices should be able to handle it.

I started as an electronics tech in the US Army, worked in corporate IT during the IT Boom, was an individual consultant and grew my tech shop to have numerous full time employees and supported small business clients with computer repair/ server maintenance/ web development/ surveillance systems/ telephone systems until the great recession. After that I started creating video training on all the topics I know and now have a YouTube Channel with over 500K subscribers. Hi Eli,
Do you know if you can jump straight to iOS 9 or do you have to go through 8? If so apple still have not fixed the issue.
