Windows 10 Installation

Windows 10 Technical preview is now released to the public. This is free to download and install on both physical and virtual computers.

You can download the Technical Preview from the download page.

I would not recommenced using the technical preview on a computer that you use everyday, this release is designed for people to have a test drive and also for developers to update apps and programs to be compatible when the stable release of Windows 10 comes out.

Now you will need to have specs that meet the minimum requirements but they are fairly reasonable:

  • 1GHz or faster with support for PAE, NX, and SSE2 Processor
  • 1GB RAM (32-bit) or 2GB RAM (64-bit)
  • 16GB Hard disk space
  • Microsoft DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM driver Graphics card

Remember these are the minimum to run the operating system, you may need more if you want to run programs or test your software on the new OS tech preview.

How to install Windows 10 Technical Preview

The installation process is quite simple. Just go to the download page and download the ISO file for Windows 10 Technical Preview then if you are installing it on physical hardware you will need to burn it to DVD or some other bootable media.

Then just follow the the steps in the video and you will have a full installation of Windows 10 Technical Preview.
