Internet Speeds a rip-off on the US?

Old 4 Comments on Internet Speeds a rip-off on the US? 12

People say that the US has the worst internet speed in the world, which is usually true. However 3% of the US has the fastest internet a geek could imagine.

Here are a few test I examined to base my judgement.

Local Area 1:

Local Area 2:

TO SAN FRANCISCO:

TO NEW YORK:

Based on these connections statistics, the over-all internet sucks in the United States. If you pay for fast internet like Google fiber, it isn’t worth it, because the servers in the United States suck just as much as the consumer internet.

Now lets see the speed connecting to a random European server from the same ISP.

Still here, the slowness of the DNS servers affect the connection, but doing another server a little-bit closer we see this.

Which the download speed is extremely higher than the US servers. Are American citizens being ripped-off?
You can decide by these tests, for yourself!
