Can 4K Displays be bad?

4K displays seem to becoming the reality of the next big thing, but can it be bad?

I was on Facebook the other day and found this video, take a watch!

This video displays a good dis-advantage of 4K. We humans will eventually never be able to tell the difference between reality, and simulation. They will look so much a like we may begin to fear what is real and what isn’t.

Video can be found here.

Sure 4K is the new unaffordable panel, however I have read that instead of going the 4K route there are still a lot of headroom for bettering current panel technology. Apparently we can achieve the same picture quality in 1080P.
I can only see the advantage of a 4K display of 60″ and upwards in the living room if you sit 2ft from it. Moving further away from the panel makes the pixels too small to notice the difference.
4K for gaming on a 40″ monitor is a game changer in my opinion….

“we may begin to fear what is real and what isn’t.”

I think that would depend on the amount of deception we’re exposed to. If we’re surrounded by these kinds of experiments/stunts/pranks with some regular frequency, perhaps. But I don’t expect that we’ll be surrounded by 4k screens every foot of our walk to work.

“will eventually never be able to tell the difference between reality, and simulation.”

Only to an extent. As long as the technology underlying the illusion is understood, the illusion can be dispelled.
