Apple and IBM Announce Parternership

Old No Comments on Apple and IBM Announce Parternership 9

In an effort to take over the world of Enterprise Mobility, Apple has teamed up with IBM to bring their big data and analytic capabilities to iOS mobile platforms.

Apple’s press release detailed four distinct areas where their new partnership will allow them to grow:

  • More than 100 industry-specific enterprise solutions including native apps, developed exclusively from the ground up, for iPhone and iPad
  • Unique IBM cloud services optimized for iOS, including device management, security, analytics and mobile integration
  • New AppleCare service and support offering tailored to the needs of the enterprise
  • New packaged offerings from IBM for device activation, supply and management

Some interesting numbers were addressed in the official statement as well.

“iPhone and iPad are the best mobile devices in the world and have transformed the way people work, with over 98 percent of the Fortune 500 and over 92 percent of the Global 500 using iOS devices in their business today. – Tim Cook, Apple CEO “

This is definitely bad news for Blackberry as there main market has always be the enterprise world and now with Apple and IBM teaming up, this may no longer be the case.

I also can’t help but think what this could possibly mean for Siri. Could IBM’s ability to process massive amounts of data be added to the capabilities of Siri? Maybe combine Watson and Siri to create the next generation of voice controlled iOS devices? Only time can tell.
