GeekBrainDump.com Promotes Authors to Tier 3

Old 3 Comments on GeekBrainDump.com Promotes Authors to Tier 3 5

We are proud to announce the ability for our best authors to be able to publish their posts directly to GeekBrainDump.com without having to wait for approval.  We are trying to balance usability and access against security and “asshattedness”. This is another step in that direction.

Being that we are a platform catering to Geeks we plan to use titles that are inline with our tech profession vs. standard journalistic titles.  In the Geek world Tier 3 Technicians are basically given  free reign to do what they need to do because they are trusted not to do anything too stupid.

At this point Tier 3 Writers are able to publish their posts directly to the site.  One security restriction is that they are unable to edit posts they have already written.  The reason for this is so that if a “hacker” does get access to one of their accounts they cannot create havoc with previously published posts.

Writers will be notified when they meet the criteria.  Once you have been selected please remember not to violate the 2 major sins of the site:

  • Do not create Copy/Paste posts.  We do check to see if content is published on other sites and if we find duplicate content we generally have a 1 strike rule.
  • Do not use shortened links. Shortened links are a security nightmare and take too much time to verify.

I am Eli "the Computer Guy" and have been in the tech industry for approx. 20 years doing all kinds of odd projects. I started as an electronics tech in the US Army, worked in corporate IT during the IT Boom, was an individual consultant and grew my tech shop to have numerous full time employees and supported small business clients with computer repair/ server maintenance/ web development/ surveillance systems/ telephone systems until the great recession. After that I started creating video training on all the topics I know and now have a YouTube Channel with over 500K subscribers. I am the founder of GeekBrainDump.com and my plan is to create a tech "news" site that I would actually find useful if I was still in the server room.

Well, I love the change in such a way. How many articles would need to be posted?

We have a specific number, but don’t want to say for security reasons. Lets just say we want to feel comfortable that you won’t do something horribly stupid if we allow you to publish directly to the site.
