Amazon has announced a licensing agreement with Aardman Animations to make their Prime Video service the exclusive subscription platform for several of their award-winning animation television shows and short films. Subscribers to the Amazon Prime Video will now have access to Aardman creations Wallace and Gromit, Shaun the Sheep, Timmy Time, and Rex the Runt.

Aardman Animations is a studio based in the UK known for their classic and cleverly written stop-motion comedy clay animation.

“Created in Aardman’s distinctive stop-motion animation style, the lead characters in Wallace & Gromit won global recognition as icons of modern British culture. The series earned both widespread fan appreciation and critical acclaim, earning two Academy Awards for its short films. “

“Wallace & Gromit inspired several spin-off series, including Shaun the Sheep and Timmy Time, aimed at younger viewers. A full-length feature film based on Shaun the Sheep is scheduled to be theatrically released in the spring of 2015.”

The other day we wrote how Vimeo was similarly signing deals to invest in exclusive content for their own service, Vimeo on Demand.  It is great to see these services filling the web with original and well-written content.

Amazon Prime already has an impressive list of critically acclaimed TV shows including The Sopranos, The Wire, Deadwood and more. The service is also available on almost any streaming device you could possibly want including the Fire TV, Kindle Fire, iPad, iPhone, Xbox, Playstation and Android devices.

You can click here to be taken to a free 30-day of Amazon Prime Video.
