Hello Folks,

Wow did my life change just today when I found out about ILO’s on Server’s…..

I was setting up a new HP Proliant Gen 8 Server I installed Windows Server 2012 R2 on it and then got it configured how I wanted it, my buddy called me and said don’t forget to setup the ILO on it so we can remote into and make different configurations on it like setting up virtual pc’s etc…. He walked me thru the steps, when I got done with it I’m sure I looked like 21 year old guy in his first Strip Club Experience…..LOL

Just wanted to share this with the Fellow Geeks on this awesome Blogsite….

I have been wanting to learn more about iLO for months now, but I’ve never found any good documentation on it. I got it setup on one of our servers at work, but I haven’t been able to figure out what to do with it yet… I already am able to remote into it with RDP and connect to shares on it, but I’ve not done anything with iLO… From what I understand, it can be used to do monitoring of various things on the server, or even as a possible backdoor if you’re having trouble getting in with RDP through the main NIC, but I’ve not been able to find any good info that details this.

Shuey what’s the IP of your ILO, that’s how you are going to access it from a web browser just like a printer… You will have to have your ILO admin user and password to access it as well.. Once you login you will have all your options on the left hand side with a graph on the right showing performance of your server…

      Thanks Ed

I must agree, iLO is really the best thing.
I have deployed countless proliant servers and it really makes my life easier.
