To publish posts to you must first have an account with us.  To get an account all you have to do is email and we will create an account and send you the login information.  (The first thing you should do once you log in is to change your password.)

Your account will be a “Contributor” level account per WordPress settings.

Once you have your account you can log in to by going to the site and then signing in using the form on the upper right hand side of the screen.

Once you have logged in you then click on the “Geek Brain Dump” link on the top left side of the screen, and this will take you to the dashboard.

From the Dashboard you can select “Posts” from the column on the left hand side. This will show you your current posts and your drafts.  You are able to edit any Drafts you have saved. You are unable to edit Published Posts.  If you need to update an od post email and we will set the Post back to draft status so that you can edit it.

To create a new Post all you have to do is click the “Add New” link.  The Add New Post form will then open and you just write your post.  When you are finished click the “Submit for Review” button to have it published.  Once we have reviewed the post it will be public.

When you add a new post you will have the option of selecting Categories and Tags.  If you are unsure of what to select we will add these during the review process.

PLEASE NOTE:  Using this method you cannot directly add pictures to your posts.  You can embed them from another source, but are unable to directly add them to the content.  The preferred way to add and edit posts is to use Windows Live Writer which gives the best blogging experience and doesn’t cost any money.

To edit your Profile simply click on the “Profile” link in the left hand column and then modify your information.  We have no interest in you sharing more information than you feel comfortable with, BUT being that the point of is to promote how impressive you are it would be wise to at least have some way for folks to contact you even if it is only your LinkedIn profile.

Eli Etherton

I am Eli "the Computer Guy" and have been in the tech industry for approx. 20 years doing all kinds of odd projects. I started as an electronics tech in the US Army, worked in corporate IT during the IT Boom, was an individual consultant and grew my tech shop to have numerous full time employees and supported small business clients with computer repair/ server maintenance/ web development/ surveillance systems/ telephone systems until the great recession. After that I started creating video training on all the topics I know and now have a YouTube Channel with over 500K subscribers. I am the founder of and my plan is to create a tech "news" site that I would actually find useful if I was still in the server room.
